Fifty three Juneau citizens attended a gala reception and fund-raising event on August 24 in the beautiful new home of hosts Mark and Sun Choate. A gracious display of food, wine, beer and gin from the Amalga Distillery donated and prepared by Capital Campaign Committee members and the hosts prompted many lively discussions. CCC chair Annie Calkins introduced a short presentation about the progress and status of the New JACC led by CCC members John Clough and Bud Carpeneti. The latest designs for the Center — the “heart and soul of Juneau” — were shared and reviewed by Program Manager Bob Banghart.
A GROUNDBREAKER campaign was publicly launched at the reception, a three month focused effort to generate sufficient funds to keep the project on target with its timeline for 2018. After a brief description of the benefits of becoming a Groundbreaker a number of attendees shouted out their support and handed over the initial $1,000 donation.
