Curé, Denny, and Gott join the Capital Civic Center Board of Directors

The Capital Civic Center is pleased to announce today that three new members have joined its Board of Directors:

Jared Curé is a seasoned entrepreneur and real estate developer managing a diverse portfolio of development projects, including the acquisition, remodeling, and rebranding of local bars, restaurants, commercial rentals, and residential apartments. Originally from Juneau, he moved to California where he worked as a project manager for a software company honing his team leadership, strategic planning, and technology integration skills. Since his return to Juneau in 2016 he has markedly changed the face of downtown and contributed significantly to the local economy through his ambitious renovations, restorations, and rehabilitations of several old establishments, including the transformation of the Arctic Bar into the Narrows Bar, the former Viking into the Crystal Saloon, and shepherding the Emporium Mall through the pandemic to restore it as a key retail destination. In April of this year, he acquired the Ivy Apartments and is dedicated to improving housing options in Juneau. As the owner of successful restaurant group in Juneau, Alaska, he expertly navigated the challenges of a seasonal market, consistently driving growth and enhancing customer experience through innovative strategies and creative solutions. Jared’s multifaceted background, combined with his strong business acumen and commitment to community development, makes him a welcome and invaluable addition to this board as we enter the final planning and construction phases.

Lisa Denny is new to Juneau and is a singer and musician. Lisa is currently performing as a solo folk artist and serving as administrative support staff and performer for the local production troupe, Juneau Vaudeville Entertainment. Her professional experience is primarily in the food and service industry as a bartender and bar manager, leading to a broad scope of management, multitasking, and networking skills. She works in the Senate Records Office for the Alaska State Legislature, and works part-time for Alaska Independent Musicians Initiative (AKIMI) on the first ever statewide music census that highlights the role of music businesses in our economic well-being. Her knowledge and enthusiasm bring fresh vision and inspiration to the Capital Civic Center.

I am excited about the Board’s vision for a new and improved community cultural conference center and about its possibilities for the enrichment and fostering of Juneau’s proud tradition of music and creative arts. As a young professional, and as a point-of-contact in the current Juneau nightlife scene, I feel that I have potential to bring fresh perspective and energy to the project as a fellow board member.” Lisa Denny

Doniece (Donnie) Gott (she/they) steps onto the board with a strong background in the arts and performance spanning over 30 years in Juneau. A core company member of Theatre in the Rough since 2000, she was a diligent participant in the rebuilding of McPhetres’s Hall after the fire at Holy Trinity Church. She has been a theater educator in Juneau for over 20 years, most recently partnering with Theater Alaska to head their Youth Shakespeare Camp. Currently serving as the State of Alaska Senate Finance Committee Assistant, she brings many years of experience as a manager of Annie Kaill’s, as well as perspective as a parent of two rad humans. Her understanding of our community and deep appreciation for the importance of creative opportunities make her a strong and insightful addition to the board.

“I am grateful and humbled to join this Board of passionate leaders and dreamers. I have always been excited by the prospect of a comprehensive civic center that will serve the expansive needs of our community – from cultural events, to artistic ventures of all disciplines, to a temporary shelter for people in times of emergency, the possibilities for this beautifully designed space are vast and extremely broad based. I am excited to share in the fruition of this ambitious and visionary project and be of service to the community I love.” Donnie Gott
